Palomino is one copy of the cream gene on chestnut. Palominos must have at least one parent with the cream gene and one with chestnut in order to be palomino. Palomino shades can range from near white to very dark. The manes and tails on palominos are always white, but sooty can affect them to result in dark manes and tails.
